Is Your Home Appraisal Confidential?
A home appraisal is a requirement for home buyers when they are using a mortgage to purchase a home and the home appraisal comes with some confidentiality rules. That appraisal is required by the lender and the lender will get access to it. While the appraisal is done on a home being sold by the homeowner that does not mean the home owner is entitled to the appraisal report as Tom Horn explains. The situation also happens on the other side where if the homeowner requests an appraisal in anticipation of listing the home for sale the buyers are not entitled to it unless the homeowner agrees to share it with them.
